Chant Down Babylon Reggae Fundraiser Event

English

Join us for an unforgettable night of conscious reggae music and community solidarity! This fundraising event brings together the power of music and activism to support our brothers and sisters facing legal battles for standing up for justice.

Every pound raised goes directly to covering legal fees for activists who cannot afford representation. When peaceful protesters and community organizers face prosecution for defending our rights and freedoms, we must stand together.

Through the revolutionary spirit of reggae, we unite as one voice against oppression. Your contribution ensures that no activist stands alone in the courtroom.

Cymraeg

Ymunwch â ni am noson anhygoel o gerddoriaeth reggae ymwybodol ac undod cymunedol! Mae'r digwyddiad codi arian hwn yn dod â phŵer cerddoriaeth ac actifiaeth ynghyd i gefnogi ein brodyr a'n chwiorydd sy'n wynebu brwydrau cyfreithiol am sefyll dros gyfiawnder.

Mae pob punt a godir yn mynd yn uniongyrchol at dalu ffioedd cyfreithiol i actifwyr na allant fforddio cynrychiolaeth. Pan fydd protestwyr heddychlon a threfnwyr cymunedol yn wynebu erlyniad am amddiffyn ein hawliau a'n rhyddid, rhaid i ni sefyll gyda'n gilydd.

Trwy ysbryd chwyldroadol reggae, rydym yn uno fel un llais yn erbyn gormes. Mae eich cyfraniad yn sicrhau nad oes unrhyw actifydd yn sefyll ar ei ben ei hun yn y llys.

The Roots & Culture

"Chant Down Babylon" is a powerful Rastafarian concept deeply rooted in reggae culture and the teachings of Haile Selassie I. The phrase calls for the spiritual and peaceful resistance against oppressive systems - what Rastas call "Babylon."

In Rastafarian philosophy, Babylon represents all forms of oppression: corrupt governments, unjust legal systems, and institutions that perpetuate inequality. To "chant down" means to use the power of word, sound, and music to weaken and ultimately overcome these forces of oppression.

Bob Marley immortalized this concept in his music, using reggae as a vehicle for revolution. Through conscious lyrics and the hypnotic one-drop rhythm, reggae became the soundtrack of resistance for oppressed people worldwide.

Tonight, we continue this tradition. As we gather to support activists facing legal persecution, we embody the spirit of "chanting down Babylon" - using our collective voice, our music, and our solidarity to challenge injustice and support those who dare to stand against oppression.

JAH RASTAFARI! One Love, One Heart, One Destiny!
